Covered ("the App") is an iOS application that tracks the roads and routes you drive. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. We take your privacy seriously: the App is designed to keep your data on your device.
The App does not collect personally identifiable information. The only data involved is:
All trip data, GPS routes, road names, and achievements are stored exclusively on your device using local device storage (AsyncStorage). This data is never uploaded to any server operated by us and is never transmitted to third parties for storage.
Deleting the App removes all locally stored data. We have no ability to recover it once deleted.
The App requests access to your device's location services to record GPS routes during active trips. Location data is processed on-device and stored locally. Precise coordinates are never sent to our servers.
For road name lookups, the App may send a geographic bounding box (a rectangular region derived from your route) to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API — a public, open-source map service. Only a bounding box is sent, not your precise GPS coordinates or route path. OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy governs their handling of this request.
RevenueCat
The App uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app-user ID and your Apple purchase receipt to verify and manage subscription status. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or precise location. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple App Store & In-App Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs information shared during purchase.
OpenStreetMap Overpass API
Road name resolution uses the public Overpass API provided by the OpenStreetMap project. Only geographic bounding boxes are transmitted — no user identifiers or precise coordinates. See openstreetmap.org/privacy for details.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us so we can assist with data removal.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete your data at any time by removing the App from your device.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. Given that we do not collect, process, or store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device. Trip data persists on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. We retain no server-side data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
